NI pride

Well, heres the logo of where I currently work for. I've only worked there for 5 days but so far, I must admit it's pretty good. There, you can find an easy going culture, magnificent products and top-notch employees. Employee benefits are also way above average and so it gives employees an easy environment to work in. It allows employees to develop their skills in many ways and in the same way, the company itself develops as well. You'll probably think I'm brainwashed... but honestly, it's very good.

I began my training today on the famous NI product LabVIEW (Laboratory Virtual Instrument Workbench). It's a software made by NI which allows flexible and quick programming. It's astonishing how easy it is to use and how useful it is. (and this is coming from a person who has only been working for 5days) I would suggest learning this program to any engineer who wants to do all the cool stuff an engineer does without all the boring, tedious, confusing and suicidal text programming. It's object based like Java so it's easier than C and it's also simpler than Java itself because most of it is graphical! Lets just disregard the fact that LabVIEW is based on C for now but the point is, ITS EASY. Ok, enough of me blabbering nonsensically about geek world.

Today, I found a blog site which cannot be mistaken for mine. I feel violated that another person has a blog site similar to mine. I don't know if this guy is Jap, but if he is, his english is quite good for a Jap xD. (Although he needs some help on his grammar and spelling) I believe he is an otaku as well, he listens to all these anime songs >_>.

SLEEP TIME =_=

NI day 1

I'm simply too ecstatic for words.

Day 1 was so easy I could almost take breaks at my own discretion! Today pretty much consisted of introducing what the company is about, what goes on there and who does what. Honestly, I would much rather this than listening to humdrum engineering lectures. This opinion, however, might be biased as I was probably content only because I was getting paid to listen to everything. Towards the end, there was a bit of a lecture on how to use some of the software installed in the computers but that was a piece of cake too.

For those who don't know (or forgotten, I'm sure that's mostly the case) I work at a company called National Instruments Japan aka NIJ. It's an American based company in Texas with offices around the world. The company is well known for providing a good workplace for employees and it has a laid back culture (sounds like an aussie company). This culture is portrayed in many aspects; one being that they don't make wearing suits a cumpulsory thing when you're not seeing clients. I will be in training for 2 years as an application engineer (AE) to become a field sales engineer (FSE).

There were 3 other people who started today with me. Obviously, they were all guys (albeit I had this microscopic hope that there would be a cute girl) and they were all older than me haha. Two of them were actually 30 and 33; both were married and one had kids >_>. On the other hand, the other guy who was 23 valiantly arrived with casual attire despite the fact that it was the first day at work. (Man, who does that?)

Anyway it is now time for working people to sleep so good night
